Article 4 directions
Article 4 directions withdraw permitted development rights for certain development in certain locations. This means that a planning application is required for a particular development that otherwise would not have been.
Current Article 4 directions
St Paul's HMO Article 4 Direction
In Cheltenham there is currently only one Article 4 direction. This Article 4 direction withdraws permitted development rights to change the use of a building from a Class C3 use (dwelling house) to a Class C4 use (house in multiple occupation). This Article 4 direction only applies in the geographical area edged in red on the direction itself.
In practice this means that a planning application is required to change from a dwelling to a house in multiple occupation (HMO) within the area edged in red.
