Allotments

An allotment is a piece of land you can rent to grow your own fruit and vegetables.

You might want an allotment to:

  • put fresh, tasty produce on your plate
  • teach children about growing food
  • enjoy being out in the fresh air
  • improve your physical and mental health
  • become part of a community
  • reduce food miles
  • grow organically

Green spots on the map mark the sites managed by the council and the blue spots mark the sites managed by other organisations.

Clicking on a spot will give you more information about that site and how to apply. There are different people to contact depending on whether the site is managed by us or by another organisation.

Alma Road

Alma Road allotments are situated at the heart of the residential area between Hatherley and Warden Hill.

There are 80 plots with a waiting list of 3-4 years years on average.

The site has two entrances off Alma Road, with water on site, a communal area and a composting toilet.

Asquith Road

Asquith Road allotments is a large popular site between Naunton Park and Old Bath Road.

It has 220 plots with an average waiting list of three years.

The site has several entrance - two from Asquith Road car park, one from Old Bath Road and three gates from the footpath behind Mead Road.

There is water and a car park on site as well as a composting toilet.

Hatherley Road

Hatherley Road allotments is a small site with very low turnover as nearly all the plots are well maintained. It is situated off Hatherley Road, near to Dean Close School.

It has 30 plots with an average waiting list of four to five years.

The site has one entrance off Hatherley Road.

There is water and a car park on site as well as a composting toilet.

Hayden Road

Hayden Road allotments is a large site in the West of Cheltenham. It is situated off Hayden Road/Old Gloucester Road.

It has 180 plots with an average waiting list of one year.

The site has one entrance off Hayden Road.

There is water, two composting toilet and a communal area.

This site has vehicle access with several parking areas on site.

Hayden Road - GL51 0WS.

Midwinter

Midwinter allotments is the largest site in Cheltenham. It is situated off Gardners Lane, next to Cheltenham Animal Shelter.

It has 225 plots with an average waiting list of two to three years.

The site has one entrance off Gardners Lane.

There is water, a composting toilet and a communal area.

This site has vehicle access with several parking areas on site and some plots have parking on the plot.

Reddings Road

Reddings Road allotments is a medium sized, popular site with low turnover.

It has 50 plots with an average waiting list of three to four years.

The site has one entrance on Reddings Road.

There is water, a composting toilet and a communal area on site.

There are no car parking facilities on this site.

Reddings Road - GL51 6PA.

Severn Road

Severn Road allotments is the smallest of Cheltenham's allotments.

It has 14 plots with an average waiting list of two to three years.

The site has one entrance off Severn Road.

There is water, a communal shed and car parking on site.

There are no toilet facilities on this site.

Severn Road - GL52 5PX.

Terry Ashdown

Terry Ashdown allotments is a medium sized site in the Springbank area of Cheltenham.

It has 50 plots with an average waiting list of one year.

The site has one entrance off Henley Road.

There is water, a composting toilet and car parking on site.

Henley Road - GL51 0PD.

Warden Hill Road

Warden Hill Road allotments is a popular medium sized site opposite Bournside School.

It has 40 plots with an average waiting list of three years.

The site has one entrance off Warden Hill Road.

There is water, a composting toilet and car parking on site.

Warden Hill Road - GL51 3EE.
