Access
The amount of footway that will remain clear is of key importance when we consider your application. We must ensure that members of the public who may be accompanied by a guide dog, or use a wheelchair, or carry babies or young children in a pushchair can do so without obstruction.
When considering access, we expect the following:
- There must be 1.5 metres clearance between the boundary of the area used for tables and chairs and the edge of the footway to allow proper access
If you are not able to demonstrate that good access to the footway is available for all of the public, your application is likely to be refused. It is in your interest to provide supporting information when you cannot provide 1.5m of clear footway to demonstrate that your applicaiton would not negatively affect accessiblity for members of the public.
