Bulky waste collection

The bulky household waste collection service is a paid service for residents who need to dispose of large household items that cannot be placed in their normal bin. This can include items such as three‑piece suites, washing machines, fridges, freezers, and other similar household goods.

Collections can only be made from residential properties within the Cheltenham borough, and all items must be standard household items.

Collections can only be booked on receipt of payment.

What happens when I book a collection?

When you make your booking you will be able to select a day of collection.

Your booked waste should be left outside the front of your home by 7.30 am, making sure all the items can be easily seen and accessed by our collection team and are not blocking the public highway.

You do not have to be present for your collection.

The costs

The cost is based on the size and weight of the item. There is a charge of £26 per unit for this service. A unit is equivalent to a double bed and mattress or a standard cooker.

Some items are classed as half units and some as two units.

All collections will be rounded up to the nearest unit. For example one and a half units will be rounded up to two units: £52.

A three piece suite based on five seats will be charged at the discounted rate of £39 for example this could be a three seater sofa and a two seater sofa. A foot stool counts as a seat so a three seater sofa an armchair and a footstool would be classed as a three piece suite for charging purposes.

Conditions of collection

Our conditions of collection are:

The items belong to you, and you have requested their removal
All items must come from a domestic residential property within Cheltenham borough. We cannot collect business or commercial waste — this includes waste from tenanted properties where the landlord or managing agent is paying for removal
You are responsible for moving the items to the agreed collection point outside your property (for example, your driveway) before 7am on the day of collection
Items must be placed safely and made easily accessible, without causing obstruction, injury risk, or inconvenience to others
Our operatives cannot enter your home, outbuildings, or gardens, and cannot accept payments at the time of collection
Only the items listed on your booking will be collected. Additional items will not be removed

Refunds are only available if you cancel at least three working days before your collection date. This includes cancellations due to a change of mind or if the items are taken by someone else before we arrive.
